  • Laughter feeds love, so let’s laugh a lot.

    When I was twenty I travelled to France, it was there with a cheap point and shoot camera and seven rolls of film that I found a love for photography and giving that fleeting moment a little immortality. That summer led me to expand my education in photography at Sheridan College, Ontario, Canada and Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia, USA.
    Two years later I founded ALT Designs and was commissioned by Thurston Design Studios to assist in the expansion of their Real Estate Marketing Business. After three years mastering skills and technique in digital photography, I moved with my husband, Mike and dog, Brea to the Kitchener Waterloo area. This along with the birth of my gorgeous daughter {often seen on the blog}, Emalee had me exploring new paths for my creativity.
    With the best inspiration, Em, it was pretty clear that Children's Photography felt like "home". With every image created, I try to take a genuine and unique approach. I want to give you and your children an experience to remember and a collection of beautiful artwork to cherish for many, many years!

True Romance – personal

Have you ever seen True Romance? If you are in your mid twenties to mid thirties, there’s a good chance you have. A Quentin Tarantino movie starring Christian Slater, Patricia Arquette, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Dennis Hopper, Val Kilmer AND Brad Pitt. Probably one of my all time faves but not a movie I would recommend watching with the kids.
As Em was running around the house after an afternoon out with her dad, the movie flashed through my mind. Her sunglasses and hoodie reminded me of Alabama… “You’re so cool!”
She’s the coolest kid in my life and I love capturing her “coolness”.

A sweetheart for Valentine’s – Waterloo newborn photographer

This handsome little man waited for daddy’s flight to arrive from Egypt before he came into the world, such a thoughtful son already! Not only that but born a day before Valentine’s, he’s Nadia and Basel’s symbol of love.
I thoroughly enjoyed every minute with Mr. Y, he is a calm natured babe with an alluring curiosity. He was so alert as well, for five days old, I couldn’t believe his ability to focus on something. Those big brown eyes will certainly keep his mama’s heart melting.
Nadia and Basel, it was such a pleasure photographing your gorgeous family! Enjoy all the moments and look forward to seeing you again.

One girl, One boy and a Dog – Waterloo Family Photographer

You know when you just click with someone? Well that’s exactly what happened when I met this awesome family, we clicked and clicked and clicked again. So much so that our girls will be taking a gymnastics class together, we’ve talked about getting the dogs together and I am pretty sure my hubby will get along famously with Steve! Vanessa and I are sure to become fast friends and I can’t wait to have our first play date.
Meeting people like Vanessa and Steve and their beautiful children is what makes my job so rewarding and most of all – fun!
I have to say thanks to Felicia in the UK for sending Vanessa and Steve my way – I have yet to meet Felicia but we have many of the same friends in common (small world) and I hope to meet her and her family one day soon. It’s a big week for Felicia so I am just taking a minute to say congratulations on baby number two, Mason, born on Feb 28th AND Happy First Birthday to your first baby, Lily!
Back to the family you are about to see… Charlie and Nash are too sweet together. Seeing the instant connection Charlie has with her baby brother just melts my heart. Charlie is a firecracker and I’m sure she is welcoming a playmate into her life with wide open arms, just as long as Nash can keep up. She happily took every book off her bookshelf while I was there to show me just how busy she keeps mom and dad. Oh the things toddlers do when they want to put on a show, I can relate that’s for sure!
It was such a pleasure hanging out with you all for an afternoon and I hope to do so, much more, in the future. xo
